Something like that JET chip or that venom box that you can turn on and off.

I've been getting some replies from other sources saying that the dx top speed is 195km and that the base model are the only ones with the governors. Anyone know if thats a true fact? If this is true would the chip from the 2002 lx work in orverriding the governor?

LX has governor too. Both LX and DX are set to 180 km/h.

We've discussed this to death. Some say we have them and others say we don't. I have an LX and my gov is supposed to kick in at 115 but I've got 122 out of my car.

i dont think all the rev limiters/speed governors are exact on each car, because i myself have found my engine to cut out at different speeds, even when im not redlined.... always between 115 and 120 (LX). yes, the JET chip will kill your rev limiter and speed governors, however even though it would be cool to see how fast my car really goes, im not sure the purchase of the JET chip, or the VENOM 400 module is worth buying, because i dont think it has any gains, except maybe a lil better MPG, or a couple HP. i guess if i had $300 lying around, i might get it, but i think i would do everything else possible FIRST, before buying anything to do with my ECU. its best to do this last, that way when u send ur ECU to JET, they can program the chip to run more efficiently with all the engine mods you have....

I have the venom vcn 400, it doesnt remove the speed limiter or the rev limiter just so you guys know. It hooks up the the MAP and TPS sensors and changes those settings only!

ok...since the venom doesnt work, and i heard too many negatives about the JET chip Has anyone been sucessful in removing the governor? If so how was it done. you guys talking about the 115 - 120 mph is the same as my 180 - 185kmph.

Is the only possible way of getting this done is by reprograming the car computer (ecu)? If so how much would this cost or is it possible to be done?

My owners manual (EX) says that the Manual Versions are limited by RPM in each gear. According to the magazines, you can run up to about 120 before the air drag overcomes the horsepower and effectively drag limits the car to that. BUT that means that if you add more Horsepower, you can go faster before the air drag stops your acceleration. So the only thing that is really slowing you down is the drag created by the car. Automatic versions may be limited to a set number, I didn't read that part of the owners manual.
