Need info on turbos, psi, and such
Ok, Im lookin for some info on turbos, psi, and such other things that goes with forced induction. Ok, first, is there a set amount of hp you get per psi or even an average number? Or does it matter on what turbo you get, your engine configuration, etc.? Im guessin it does, but I was looking into doing a turbo kit when/if they ever surface. I would like to get 130-150 hp out of it so im guessin that I would need around a 12-15 psi boost to do so, correct? Also, Im getting the bottom end (lower compression pistons, rods, bushings, possible crankshaft, etc.) replaced too, so I dont think that will be a problem. Let me know what you think.

First off I am in no way an expert, nor do I claim to no anything about turbos, psi, forced induction, etc.
But from what I have read about turbos posted in this website, 12+ psi boost is gonna be damn near impossible for our cars, I THINK I read that 4-5 psi boost is all that we are going to get. It has to do with our fuel system, (which I also no absolutely nothing about) not being a returnless??? some other members will be able to expain this better I am sure.

Our engines could be capable of 12-15psi of boost. They would just need some minor "adjustments" (ok, major) but you would expect to get around 150hp @ 15psi of boost approx. You would need to rebuild the engine with stronger internals and such for it to be able to handle that, but first on the priority list is to get rid of our stock fuel system and build a custom system. (not in california though)
Yes for 150hp you would be looking at about 13 or 14lbs of boost...
I have read up on everything about turbos I can find, I have a shop custom making me one right now...
you can saftly run 6lbs of boost on stock engine and fuel system...
about 7lbs of boost and you need to start upgrading the bottom end of your engine... and you should seriously think about converting your car to a returned fuel system.. only problem is you would then need a stand- alone fuel managment system.... look at AEM's or Apexi. at which point you just put in a bigger fuel pump and have it pump max fuel into the line (since it is now returning the extra to the tank). <- this is the method I decided on... it costs a bit more because of the new fuel lines, pump, injectors, and control system... but its not that bad.. you will look at about 1500 to 1800 for the fuel controller.. and prolly 500 or so for the parts...
with both the internals of your engine and the fuel system upgraded you can easily run 14+ lbs of boost...
hope this helped some what.
-Michael.
any questions PM me.
Edit: in California it is legal to adjust your fuel system as long as you can still pass SMOG.

Well I would convert the fuel system and then get new internals, but thats the problem. I dont know if I should get custom made internals or sleeve the engine and come in with other internals. Also, is this even possible?
