boost controller question
Ok, I'm kinda doing my homework on turbos and their parts. Ok so this is what I took boost controllers for. You can basically control boost levels with them, so if you are not running you car that hard you can lower the boost to like 7-8 psi if your normal boost level is like 9-10 psi. And then you can increase it to 11 and up for racing purposes. Is that correct? And also, when you increase or decrease the boost levels with them, does that control your A/F mixture too? Cause I was thinking that if it doesn't, couldnt that be really bad cause that would cause you to run either really rich or really lean? Im kinda confused on this whole boost controller issue. If anyone has any info, he a brother out. Later.
a boost controller generally works WITH (or in addition to) an external wastegate, or i guess some internal wastegates......the boost controller tells the wastegate how much boost to "bypass" past the turbo, and just shoot down the downpipe instead
depending on the boost controller ( i know the apexi afc-r) some DO change the A/F maps accordingly.....

in additional, not all turbos run at an average boost of 9-10 psi... it all depends on the car and the turbo. make sure u learn this before u put on a turbo that is either too big or inefficient for ur car.
