WHen does VTEC kick in

Ive heard many people saying stuff like ".... when VTEC kicks in".... when does VTEC kick in lool? is it at a certain RPM or gear or speed? lol ive searched but come up with nothing... also are we supposed to notice a difference when it kicks in?

n on other honda stuff, engines.. diagrams..

The vtec in our cars is a three stage. Depending on what rpm's your at is what stage your in. Or so I think that's what I remember from my newbie dayz

Vtec on a single cam opens up at 4500rpms. You can get a vtec controller and push it a hair down to 4000rpms or so. But when you have a single cam its not really "vtec" Now, when you drive an si or a gsr or something of that nature, you WILL feel it kick in, and you can visually look at the gauge to see where you're at.

Pest- I have an HX too and I think it kicks in between 2900-3100 rpms. Good call.

It'll also kick in lower if the car is under heavy load.
