I have a friend that removed his rear seats/decklid and has 6 12" subs and 6 1000x1 amps. They are Rockford Fosgate HX2's and Rockford amps. He has Diamond audio 5.25 component seperates up front running on a Rockford 250x2. The headunit is a 2k1 modle Alpine. He hit 154.29 db just last weekend. He has the subs in a Bandpass box that was custom made, and it's kinda shady though cuz tha thing flexes hard. He has so much damn dyno matting in his ride, plus about 20 cans of spray foam in between the pannels. Looks hella clean and custom, but Knocks tha shizzzzznit out of your head.
i have 2 15's in my trunk & theres still some room. My only suggestion would be to build a custom box. I helped a friend of mine build one for his car. we put 2 12's facing @ 45 degree angles & the other 2 just facing forward. Only thing is that it wasn't a 7th gen civic....
I think it can be done if you give up your whole trunk space. You will want to pick subs that can exist in a smaller box than they need, prolly need to do some porting as well.
The question is, why do you want 4 - 12" when you can get 2 excellent quality 12's, build a properly sized enclosure and power them with a solid performance amp and achieve the same thing or better.
Just because you have 4 doesn't mean you will have more bass or more sound. It just means you have more stuff in yur trunk.
Ask any performance audio guy and he will tell you how to do it right.
I'd bet you could even go with some extra solid 10"s and out perform your 4 average 12"s easy.
But we aren't talking about your run of the mill subs that cost $100 or less each here, we are talking a few hundred bucks each with huge magnets and very solid power consuming design.
before you fall prey to the "more is better" zone, try your local shops who know what they are doing and see how they can help you achieve more with less.
imho

yeah alienmeatsack is right man....
I know 2 people with S10's...one with 4 10's & another with just 1 good 15".
the sound of the 1 15 is so much cleaner & hits much harder.
i know 15's & 10's are totally different...my point....
Quality over quanity!!

4 12's for SPL.. well you'd fare much better using 2 12's in a high tuned large ported enclosure than 4 12's sealed... you can fit 4 12's easy by building a false floor and mounting the subs inverted with the baskets up....but havign 4 drivers will cause alot of cancellation and you might lose SPL.
