anyone cut a coil off a 2.0 drop??

pls save the "you can't do that it will kill your car" crap for some newb.....i know it's never a good ideal to change the dynamics of how a spring is designed to work, but if someone has cut a coil off of a spring that was originally designed to go down to around a 2.0 drop, pls fill me in on all the good and the bad and how much lower the car got (obviously this will differ from spring to spring), especially with the front Mac. set-up.....thanx

cutting one of the set coils on an aftermarket spring wouldn't be the worse thing to do....but still unwise.. it would as you've guessed it..lower the car even more..however the spring would have to be pretty stiff to still work and not have the car bottom out every bump

why do you want to? i know people have cut the 4 door neuspeed springs to fit the 2 door. there is really nothing badd about it, even neuspeed suggested it(this is as long as its a dead coil). but ya like mohawk has said it should be stiff enough so that you dont bottom out.... lower the springs are, the stiffer they usually are, and thats because of that reason, so you dont bottom out.

only true with linear springs... cutting most progressive springs should be fine.

I agree UNPREDICTABLE I cut my springs as well and I think the ride is great!!! Just the same as Stock if not better! Bt I am going to buy Springs eventually. I bought coilovers and they didnt fit right and they felt like Crap so I decided to cut the factory springs and everything is great.
