Dash Kit Painting
Okay, I just bought a silver dash kit and was wondering if I could spray paint it blue to match my exterior eternal blue pearl. Do I just have to do the regular prime, paint, clearcoat? Thanks and do you guys recommend doing this?

You bought a silver dash kit...and now you're gonna paint it? If you have money to throw away....PM me and I'll send you my address!!!
j/k
Ok, first you can sand the dash pieces with a very fine grit sand paper. You just need to rough it up a bit. Then clean them all really good with some alcohol or a damp rag. After you have all your pieces ready to paint, you should spray a light coat of primer over them, let it dry good, then sand your pieces and clean them again. After that, you should be able to bring them somwhere that does body work or something and have them paint the trim for you. Then install the new, freshly painted trim, take lots of pics, and post em for us to see.

OK... here's a question...
If you bought the dash kit, isn't it one of those heavily lacquered sticker sets? How are you going to remove the lacquer to get to the base metal and paint? Or are you going to just paint over that glossy finish? Or is the kit just raw without gloss? If so, where did you get it from?
OK... that's more than one question.

I got taken by the dealer when I first wanted a dash triom kit, $140. It turned out to just be an expensive set of stickers that go over the orginal dash pieces. I told them to take that stuff back. I wasn't falling for that. Better off painting the dash rather than adding the kit.

Stupid question everybody:
If I paint my dash, will it ever crack or fade from the sun? And what if I use Armor-All on it?[hr]

Clearcoat protects your paint. Armor-All no no for painted surfaces, read the label behind the bottle.[hr]
