Possible Future: Removing Tranny and so on DIY
I'm a delivery driver and have been using my 2k1 to deliver for about a year now. About 2 weeks ago I noticed slipage on the clutch and a noise while in nuetral and while accelerating. Knowing friends that work on honda's we got to the task of ripping out the left side of my engine bay. The task wasn't too hard and we got the transmission off pretty easily. The biggest problem was the because the 7th gen engine bay is so small that the tranny wouldn't drop through the bottom. We just moved it as far away from the engine so that we could change the throwout bearing, pressure plate, and clutch disk. We got the originals off and the new ones on. We wanted to change the pilot bearing (on the flywheel) but weren't able to because the tranny was in the way so we skipped it all together thinking it should have been good. Wrong!..We got everything back on and bolted and everything else. I took it for a test drive and to my amazement. That awful noise was still lurking around the engine. So now I have to rip apart the engine bay again and figure out what the heck it is. I talked to a mechanic and he said that the ONLY 2 things it could be were the pilot or throwout bearing and because we changed the throwout it has to be the pilot. So great. Another 9 hours of labor is gonna have to be done. I can get a camera and have the film put on cd so that I can do a DIY. I know it would totally helpful for all you guys out there. Especially if you drive cars as hard as I do. Let me know what you guys think and if you'd like to see an attempt at a Removing Tranny/changing clutch/removing flywheel/replacing pilot bearing DIY.

BIG PROPS TO HTOWN AND HIS RSX SWAP. I was hoping to do it myself in the near future but I actually think I'm gonna buy an older civic and go for the B16A swap and just make my 2k1 look as nice and sound as nice as possible.

hey guys, i'll get a few pics tonight and post them tomorrow. basically, you have to seperate the motor from the front and rear mounts. the mounts are welded onto the cradle. you have to remove the lower control arms from the disc assembly. the lower control arms are attached to the cradle too. at this time you'll want to remove the axles too. oh forget it... it'll be easier to understand with some pics.
