Tachometer

Hey all,
A few questions for anyone who knows. 1) I just bought a Apexi tach. and i am not sure how to take the dash off so I can get to the wires i need. Anyone know?
2) I have heard from others that civics have the Tach. wire taped up behind the dash on those models that don't come with tachs. Is this true?
Please let me know anyone.
Thanks!!!

While this topic is brought up, do you or anyone know if the computer systems on a DX is different than an LX? I was looking to replace the gauges on a DX, with ones from an LX or EX. Is it way too much trouble doing this switch. Is it even unhered of? Or should i just say forget it and throw a tach on the dash and be done with it? Am I just smoking with all of this, thinking the gauges has to do with the ECU? I better stop ramblin.

Thanks

the instilation wen't fine...the plug wasn't where I thought it was...there is actually a wire on the right plug that goes to the factory display. I just taped into that wire and everything was fine. FOR THE GUY ASKING ABOUT CHANGING TO A LX OR DX DISPLAY. I had thought about it as well and just decided to get a exterior tach. because if you ever wan't to race or anything like that, or show for that matter...the aftermarket tachs have alot more features on it than the factory. If anyone has a question about hooking an aftermarket tach. up to the 2k1 DX...let me know...i can help!!!

The gauge cluster swap between the DX and LX works. HOWEVER the mileage will start from 0 on the new gauge cluster. You have to get the cluster calibrated to your mileage or else it will be odometer fraud.
