Rep Power: 0 Tachometers in a automatic?
I was at the mall the other day and I walked by a older model civic with a Tachometer. The car was a automatic? Is it possible to use tachometers in a automatic or was that guy just using that setup for show? I mean if you can't shift the car yourself, why use a tachometer with a shift light.

Rep Power: 0 I have an automatic and I don't think i'll ever get one of them tach. It will be dumb putting a tach on a automatic. Plus i'm about keeping the car a sleeper.

Rep Power: 0 well i mean maybe they race.....and like to keep track of the rpm shift point or something.....i mean people that race for consistant times use auto cause the shifting is consistant..unlike in manual ...i.e. missing gear

Rep Power: 0 I love my tach on my auto. It came with it and because it's the '03 Civic, the lights look so nice in my opinion. I wouldn't think of getting one if it didn't come with one.

Maybe, but I don't see the point in getting something that the car already comes with. Maybe just buy a shift light?

Anyway, maybe the guy in the AT just wanted to monitor his engine rpm.
I can think of more useless gauges that people put in their cars.

Rep Power: 787 Maybe I should get a clock gauge, since I don't have the stock cd player to tell me anymore. Then I know when it's time for dinner at least lol.

Rep Power: 0 yeah i agree, tachs on autos are lame....but old skool civic dxs , like 97, have no rpm gauges...so i guess a tach would come to use ( if they want to check out how many rpms they running)..even thought htye do not need to shift

Rep Power: 322 I honestly have no problem with that. I too have seen weirder (is that even a word) stuff. It's not putting anyone else in danger so I'm pretty much okay with it.

Rep Power: 0 this is a silly subject but I used to race an automatic Nova and it had a monster tach in it...
just because you dont have a clutch doesnt mean that you dont need a tach!
everyone knows we have a rev limiter, monster tachs let you see in finer detail where you have to shift. ( IE... I did have a dual range tach) before that kicks in... but thats only if you drive it like you should, and not like your daddy would!!!
oh yeah I hate HEROS!!!
(those who insist on staying in the fast lane to keep you from speeding!!!)

Rep Power: 258 DX models(auto or manual) don't come with tachs right?
Thats one of the "advantages" or getting a LX...besides not having to roll up your windows...LOL.
