Bigger battery needed?

I don't know if this post belongs here or in ICE. I'll start it off here - if a mod wants to move it, please, be my guest.

Is it feasable to run a set of underbody neons and 2 amps off of the stock battery? Or, with all of this in the car, would it be better off for the longevity of the car to either

1) upgrade to a bigger battery, like an OPTIMA battery
2) get a 2nd battery and find some way to wire it in parallel so you've got more juice.

I've been thinking about it and I'm not sure with the 2 amps and the transformer for the underbody neons, if that'll be a lot of pull on the battery. Any opinions on this?

i think it depends on the amp and what your pushing... if your only hitting 500 rms total i dont think you need a bigger battery or alternator. i think the alt would mess up before the battery tho, but ya should have posted in the ICE forum, mohawk would be able to help you out

That's why you'd wire them in parallel - so they both would drain faster.

Has anybody come out with a larger alternator for our car yet anyway?

If you don't want to buy a new altenator you can always buy a capacitor which stores reserve energy so you wont drain your battery.

caps do diddly squat. they prevent dimming, an dNOTHING else. in fact, they strain your system more. your alternator has to struggle more, you just dont see it like you did before (like a bandpass box. the woofer struggles, you just dont hear it till POP)

as far as neons and amps. dont worry. your fine. stock battery. stock alternator.
