So here is my question:

Will a four function remote (lock, unlock, panic, option) work with the oem keyless entry? Specifically, can the oem system recognize and act on the option channel? I know it is a stupid question, but often it is cheaper for a car company to install only one type of system (thus installing only four channel systems in all cars verses three in some and four in others).

Additionally, does anyone have any info on how to use the panic button for something other than panic? I was thinking of installing a trunk release activated by the panic button (if a four f(x) remote is not possible). What wires/ports/connectors must I use to for such a task?

BTW, I have no interest in installing an aftermarket system. Besides, it would be a waste of money if either of the two above suggestions are possible.

You would have to buy an entire system for the remote trunk release alone..

Just buy an aftermarket alarm. For the troubles of rewiring and reconfiguring everything just so your panic button can open your trunk is ridiculous, and may not even be possible. Just upgrade to an alarm.

Yea i agree Just Upgrade! The alarms one ours cars suck anyway. Go out and get something that will actually secure the car.
