DIY: Easy change of Dash light color.

Things needed:
1. Exacto knife
2. 1 Blue gel sheets (can be found at any music equipment store. A store that sells sound equipment.)
3. Phillips head screw driver
4. 8mm bolt wrench
5. About 5 hours to play with your car.

Thats all you need to do this!

I just recently became a member to this site. I did this mod to my car over 3 months ago. You don't need all those LEDs and stuff. its a waist of money and time trying to find those. This is extremely easy. If you can clear your head lights out you can easly do this.

CENTER CONSOLE REMOVAL: (Took this from DIY Removing the factory head unit. Thank waynegs@yahoo.com)

http://www.2k1civic.com/diy/radio.cfm

After that you should have a head unit sitting in your lap.

1. Take the head unit and remove the A/C unit control (temp, fan direction). Very simple just look at it and figure it out.(hard to explain writing this from memory. soon I'll post pics for those who need extreme help when I get a dig cam
2. You should now see where the orange gels are pop the out.
3. Take each one and trace the piece on the gel sheet try to be as exact as you can.
4. You should now have an exact copy of the orange gel piece. Pop it back in. If it does not stay use a tiny bit of elmers glue. If you put too much it will block the light. (Note: Super glue will melt the gel and the you've screwed up. Elmers won't melt it.)
5. Put the A/C controls back on screw the back in.
6. Now for the A/C power, rear defrost, and the recirculation buttons. Take the screws and out pull it off.
7. Pop each part off, and take them apart.
8. Pop out the gels cut them and put them back in.
9. Your done with the center console. Put it back in!

LEFT SIDE CONSOLE (mirror adjust, sunroof, Cruise)

To remove:
1. Under the steering wheel remove the two black covers. Just turn the ***** pull them out.
2. Open the coin tray
3. Look up in there and there is a Phillips screw. Take it out.
4. Now reach behind the tray, it is held in by clips push them in hard and kind of work it loose.
5. Unplug each of the three plugs
6. Pop each of them out.
7. On each of the three pieces remove the LEDs and pull off the condoms
8. Use your brain and take each of the pieces apart and cut a piece of gel in each place. Put it all back together put it in.

Notes:
Green Cruise Light:The cruise light can be altered by cutting a piece of gel to fit in to cover the clear piece completely.
Mirror adjust: You have to pop the back of the mirror adjust off and pull the condom off. pop it back on.
Sunroof angle button: This is the hardest part of the DIY. I had trouble getting it just right. Just play with it and you will get it.

If you have any questions about this e-mail me your questions and I'll answer them A.S.A.P. Sorry this was not all that descriptive.

Sorry about putting useless info on the site. All I have seen in the forum in the last two weeks is everyone asking how to do this. All the DIY have broken links to the sites. Where did you find the info?

thx for the DIY. You are right about the other DIY's being broken links.. I really wish whoever they belong to would get them up and running again, but your info will definatly help me out when I do mine, exept I think I'm going to replace my LED's entirely and use gels only on the bulbs
