OMG!!!! i just got my car back from the dealership (hydrolocked my motor) and two days ago i went to gas up and mines the same way. i asked the dealership about it and they told me they didn't know why, but it doesn't hurt anything so not to worry about it.

last time this was discussed i belive we said that our cars dont have one because of the way the fuel system is designed.

weird! i could have sworn that there's a little metal flap inside the filler hole... i just went out to check mine, and it's not there! i checked my dad's 2002 TL, and his doesn't have one either! so either i've been hallucinating and just imagining the flap, or honda's got some really cheap-*** parts that are sitting at the bottom of our fuel tanks!

What? There's a flap in my 02 civic coupe lx. Maybe I'm imagining things lately... anyway, a few days/weeks ago it was discussed that the flap is not necessary as long as you have the cap attached.

Last time I was at the station my flap was there. I sure hope it stays that way, coz I don't really feel to happy with a metal part dancing around in the fuel tank. Better take extra care when putting in the nozzle.

no flap, the dealership told me that is why you have to tighten your gas cap until it clicks three times or else engine light comes on.

hmm....there sure aint no "flap" on my baby any more *wink**wink

as far as my car is concerned, it doesnt have the little spring-loaded flap that covers over the fuel filler hole, and it never did have that.
