Was reading the latest issue of Import Tuner(august 2k2) and they threw some cam gears onto a '91 civic si and it gained about 2hp to the wheels if that helps any...
[hijack]edit cause I got a question for ya: How does the wing in back help out? I know you've talked about it being a functional wing but the only thing that could think of to make it functional was that it has to provide lift.. so that more weight would be on the front tires or something to that effect....[/hijack]

Ok, guess I should respond to this...no 26 HP gain! This is best used on a modified engine and it takes alot of tunning to get good results from it....its not a bolt on like an intake or header...do some research
i was asking about this item to a friend of mine that knows too much about cars. He says, especially on SOHC engines, just getting the cam gear wont do much of anything for you. what you really want is to get the cam shaft with the cam gear at the same time, then set it up that way. That way you will see the most gains.
Might want to keep this is mind.
Peace~

leave the wing alone guys its his thing ok
now about the cam gear. since we only have sohc we can only advance the intake and exhuast or retard it. now what we would like to do is advance the intake and retard the exhaust however we cannont do that. so the only power gains if any would be from the lightening of the gear itself. you can advance timing by 1 degree but i would not suggest it.

th cam gear will benefit not by gaining HP but by shifting the power band lower, for more TQ or high for more top end HP. Your best bet is to get on the dyno to see the effects of what adjusting the gear is doing to your car.

wow one pretty solid answer. good job.
cam gears aren't bolt on powers. no matter what AEM's site claims.
