Anyone know a reputable place I could go to that will convert my hardtop Civic coupe into a convertible? I've been thinking about it for maybe early next year.

Rep Power: 0 yea, american sunroof company. they build convertibles for car companies. only reputable place to do this, theres a few others but they're all expensive. its a bad bad idea. if you remember, any convertible from the '80's or '90s that was orginally a coupe with its top cut off (I.E. domestic cars and even top $ cars), then you'd remember that these things were horrible. MAnufacturers sent coupes to places like ASC and they would cut the roof off, brace it, and throw a top on it. bad bad idea, but they made them anyway and people bought them and complained about them. if you do this and you can pretty much guarantee to twist the hell out of your car till its falling apart. you'd have to add many additional frame and body braces just to keep your car from twisting into a pretzel. granted it would look cool, but youd be dumping tons of money into something thats inevetibly going to be in horrible shape. again, the only place that successfulyl converts car is the american sunroof company. and i dont think they even do personal cars anymore unless your willing to shell out the big money(read many $k's). if you really want a convertible honda go lease an s2000 cause you'd be wasting tons of money that you could put towards a car like that.

Rep Power: 0 a few comments:
1) it would cost too much
2) the chassis wasn't designed to be a convertible so if you ever got in an accident, it wouldn't be pretty (you'd have to get a roll-cage or something
3) even if you did pull it off, i think it would look plain ugly
but it's your car and if you wanna pull it off,

Rep Power: 0 well, those who think it would look ugly -- you're right! i played with the idea in photoshop a bit... and decided it was too ugly to even bother going any farther. so i stopped working on it, and threw tila nguyen in the front seat... and it STILL looks ugly! i know, i know... WTF, she can make ANYTHING look perfect!
oh well. BTW, that WAS hawk's ride

P.S.

Rep Power: 0 Thanks for the sugestions and info. I think I'll wait until it's past its warranty and I've gotten about 150K miles on it, and then when it's the second car I'll have fun and experiment with it. I don't think it would be ugly at all, and it would solve that headroom problem for some of my passengers, hehe. It will definitely be the second car when the Dodge Razor comes out.

Rep Power: 294 it sure doesn't look like a stock front bumper. it seems much lower to the ground. that lower grill is bigger compared to the other civics. at least, it looks that way.

Rep Power: 0 Hehehe... good eye. The front bumper on the car is something I've been thinking about... I designed it keeping the front clean & simple but lower with a bit more agression than stock. Now if someone would build it with clean side skirts... something like this:
