Chilton VS. Haynes. the better manual??

Which company has a better manual? Chilton or Haynes? This isnt for the civic mind you, im picking one up today cause i promised a friend id fix a bunch of things on his '87 s-10 blazer . on a side note, anyone know how to pop a hood if the inside release and cable snapped? I was thinking to remove the front grill and go at it that way. but anyway, anyone have experience with these manual company's??

Chilton manuals are more for the experienced mechanic. It doesn't have very good pictures and it has more wordy descriptions. I would recommend Haynes for the weekend mechanic. It has great pictures and easy to understand text.
