Nice reply, "yes". Yea, you can use any aftermarket tach that is built to be used universal, however make sure your friend still has the instructionss for it or knows how to adjust the signal input, a LOT of people think that its just power, ground, and tach signal wire then your done, but you have to tune the tach to your cars electronics. Youll end up having a tach that reads 10000 rpms when your barely past 3000, or youll be near redline and itll only read 1000. Just be sure to tune it correctly. Just out of curiosity, why put an aftermarket tach on the car anyways? Ours is dead accurate. Spend the cash on a few other gauges we dont already have that will be more useful to you in the end. Just my thoughts...

i have one on mine, i have one already, but i just like how it looks, make sure ur friend doesnt just cut the wires, make him pull them out still together or ull have to twist more wire together, i would like to get more guages but they dont make pod, and i dont want to cut holes to make them fit elsewhere
