It sux to be a newbie on this forum, but anyway, for all those who bought their 7thgen civics new, when did you do your first oil change on your car. My dealer said when I reach 6000KM...for some reason that seems too high for me on a 4 cylinder. Let me know what you think.

Rep Power: 0 Read your car manual. It says every 5k-10k for oil changes. I do mine every 4k, but it says make sure to wait at least 5k before your first one because honda put a special additive in the oil which to needs to spread throught the engine.

Rep Power: 0 I was told to take mine in @ 8000Kilometers (2002 Civic) because of the new synthetic oil and additive. (It even says in my manual to take it in at 8000)
I will most likely do it at 5000 though just like the 2001 civics are recommended.
I'm obsessed with clean oil

manual about not doing a first oil change for 5k miles, it says nothing about special additives.
I asked my fellow tech buddies at the dealership, and also phoned American Honda about it
and got some dumb looks and laughs. When at the manufacturing plant before an engine
is installed it is tested with propane for a couple minutes, that's it. Then passed on to be
installed into a vehicle. They are filled with OEM Honda 5w-20, that's it. The same oil you can
buy at the Honda parts desk at your local dealership. The OEM Honda oil is made by MOBIL,
it's same thing as thier standard Mobil oil and just a Honda name on it. Repeat there is no
"special additives" put in the oil from the manufacture. Search for a topic called "break in
period question" and you will see an extensive racing use breakin that I've posted. His reply was
"drop that engine of at the junkyard and get a newone, because your engine is now junk."

Rep Power: 0 My honda dealership gave me a coupon booklet for all of my services up to 125k miles, they are for either discounts or free services. the first service coupon they have is for a 3000 mi oilchange, and they told me i should get it changed every 3000 miles.
