smells like burnt plastic
i've been having this weird burnt odor coming from my car whenever i drive it..i've tried looking for the cause, but seems to be unsucessful.
does anybody have this kind of problem too... it seems like its coming from the bottom...its really really bad....i can smell it whenever i pull over ... or park my car..... and were talking about short distance driving here.!!
i'm really concerned about this... should i bring it to the dealership or should i just bring it to my mechanic..!?
thanks in advance..!

you've got a plastic bag melted onto your header.. it's most likely right where the header bends back to the rear of the vehicle.
i've had that happen twice with this friggin civic. it's much too easy to friggin do for some reason.

I did that once in my old car. I noticed that I ran over it, but it didn't appear in my rear view mirror. I knew that it got stuck. Later I smelled plastic burning. It was on the car for something like a week.
LOL...when it happened to me I thought it was so weird and improbable that it surely wouldn't happen to many people...then again, my car is pretty low and the freakin' pipe hangs even lower due to the absence of the central tunnel
it's definatly the plastic bag theory..
this happens all to often...i always avoid them while driving..this guy i know ran over a plastic bag filled with other plastic bags and his car stunk for a very long time..haha

worry not, it'll eventually fully burn off...its not the header even.......
Too be totally specific you rarn over a plastic bag and it melted on to your cat. convertor.
Let this be a lesson, if you see a plastic bag, try to avoid it, orelse you'll have that smell to contend with for about a month....
Happened to me when my car was new, I pwas so pissed, I went to the dealer FUMING, and was later embarassed when the problem was shown to me.....
lesson learned....

i have a different but similar problem. when i turn on the fan with no A/C, it smells really bad. sometimes it smells like pure air, but other times it smells just plain bad. but when i turn on the A/C it goes away. i know it's going away because it's running through the A/C, but why is it there at all? i can't describe the smell, but it's definatly not burning plastic bag.
