Do our Civics come slightly tinted from the factory?
I got a 2002 LX and was just wondering if the windows come slightly tinted from the factory? The laws here in Maryland say you can only have a combined tint of 35%. I don't want to go below legal and be forced to rip it off if I get stopped.

Rep Power: 0 yeah they do come slightly tinted, but I dont think you have to worry about combining it, just get the 35% if thats what you want. I dont think the factory tinted glass has a % or anything.

Rep Power: 0 The factory "greenish" tint is pretty much only to block out Ultra Violet rays, (so your interior doesn't fade, and so you don't burn really bad if you fall asleep in your car in the summer [IMG]i/expressions/laugh2.gif[/IMG] ). I live in VA, and the tint laws here say that the darkest you can go is 50% all around, but I got 20% all around. You can't really tell that 20% is illegal during the day, but during the night it's almost pitch black on the outside (which is what I like 
) . I haven't been pulled over by any cops, and I still pass inspection, so I'd say go 20%. Just my opinion [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/IMG] .

Rep Power: 0 If you look at the window sticker it says the exact tint. It also says it in the owners manual. I would tell you the numbers for sure but my attorney has all my papers. The green tint is, like said before, to block the UV and that is it. The factory green tint should have no relevance to the tint laws.

dealer tint: maybe, some dealers do this for the same reason we do it: it looks better and is better for your interior.

Rep Power: 0 Thanks for all the input. I don't remember seeing anything in the manual(that is why I asked). I guess I will go with the 35% then when I get the money. I was just curious because the laws here in MD say 35% combined, and I know if it is less they can by law may you rip the tint off before you drive a way. I want to avoid this.

Rep Power: 0 If mine were tinted they were horrible but oh well I got the solar gard film put on and its dark just how I like it, but yeah some dealers do have the cars tinted but they are legal and I would rather have the film I like and % I like installed but its nice for the average buyer
