cat back or custom exhaust

I like the GReddy cat back but I heard it really dose not do much and is really quite.I want something that hads horsepower and is a little louder. I was thinking about getting a racing cat,
2.50' inch pipeing, and a lage tip muffler.Whould that add as much or more or do you think less horsepower. But i am also looking for louder.

Any horsepower gains your going to be getting out of any catback system is minimal, your usually looikng around a handful at best, maybe an extra few from a high flow cat but if what your looking for is sound, i have the TCS exhaust from DC, and it puts off a really decent growl between 1500 abd 3500 rpms, and at higher rpms, your car doesnt sound like a little crying baby like the stock exhaust makes it sound. hope this helps.

I put a ractive universal muffler on mine with custom 2.5" crome piping. It's pretty loud and sounds really good. Dont' know about the hp gains, though. Look into ractive mufflers if you're gonna go custom, they work really well. Most people agree that even though it's a slow 'vic, it sounds awsome.

why is everyone on this board concerned with hp only...why is torque never thought off. ill stick with the stock exhaust until i need a different one...cause i dont think the 1 hp gain is worth the low end torque drop. besides those huge tips "growling" fart cans are rather pathetic. frankly if i were a cop, id pull a kid like u over just to dump on your exhaust

Are we talking about the greddy evo catback? I thought it was very loud, that was what kept me from getting it. So is it loud or quiet? I didn't want people to be able to hear me coming down the street.

Okay, I know of a good muffler to get but what about a new cat, should I change that out or leave the stock one on?
