dealer tech/mods

While up at school (i got to college in worcester-woostah- , MA) I took my car into the local dealer, Lundgren Honda in Auburn, MA. Let me tell you, this place is awesome. not only did they do really fast and quality service on my '02 EX sedan, but they do cutom work too. When i was last there they had a full race '99 civic sittin in the service bay and 2 '02 coupes with modifications. One had a full red/yellow custom interior and rims, the other had altezzas, leather, tints, lowering kit, and rims. They sell and install all of this there at the dealership. Real nice stuff. Not sure how much they would charge for the work but if its like their stock work, its probably pretty good. Except their window tinting, wayyyy too much. A guy comes in and does it for them. Almost $300 for a sedan. ouch

Hey, I'm from Shrewsbury, MA! I go to school in Worcester, MA. WPI to be exact. Check out the North East forum. That's where us New Englanders hang out. Anyway, here are my three experiences with Lundgren Honda:

#1: We're in the market for a new Honda Civic. Their bottom line pricing makes us laugh. We try to negotiate. The guy basically gets upset and says no. We walk away, but he takes down our phone number. We go to another place. Forget where now. The price is below invoice! We bargain it a little lower even. I have just bought my 2001 Honda Civic. A couple of days later we get a call from that salesman. He asks us if we're still in the market for a new car. We say no. We hang up. We laugh.

#2: I notice a couple of things wrong with my car. I go to Lundgren Honda to get them fixed. They happen to be the closest and I think it doesn't matter. The hood cowl was loose, the drivers side kick panel had a clip that was squashed and it had to be replaced, and the moulding around the passenger side door frame was loose in one corner. It took them an hour to do the following: Push in the drivers side kick panel and not replace the little plastic clip. Push in the hood cowl and not replace the broken and missing parts. Scratch up something with a screw driver trying to push the moulding back in. Take out the moulding from one area and push it in another. They did everything wrong and then this is what one of their reps said to me: "We fixed everything, but the mechanics found a place that seemed to be pried loose with a screw driver. Just take into consideration that future work of this kind will not be under warrenty if we find that you have tried to fix the car yourself. Also, be careful of the aftermarket products that you put on your car." This was when I only had shaved emblems and aftermarket pedals.

#3: I get into an accident. Not my fault, some 18 year old punk driving a POS caddy smacks into me. I go to Lundgren Honda's body shop that they just opened. They normally don't use aftermarket products when they repair things, but I asked and they said allright. I bought a carbon fiber hood and a new front bumper. I transfered all of the accessories onto the carbon fiber hood, but I didn't do much with the front bumper (in terms of preparation). They fixed all they could and did a good job, but when it came to the aftermarket products they suck! They didn't replace the hood latch with a softer spring so the hood could almost not be closed. Actually some of the material holding the latch was broken because they tried to close the hood with the stock latch. Then they didn't drill the right kind of holes in the bumper and it stuck out all over the place. In one area someone tried to use a rivet to hold the bumper to the car. Then the paint had buddles in it that dried and up close it looks crappier than stock. This is from not cleaning the paint gun properly. At least the color matches though. They did fix a dent that I had free of charge. They also charged me less than they had estimated. Overall they do a good job, but only with stock products.
