i kind of have the same problem, but i am very fast with my shifts, so when i goto 3rd, im still in good power. But, as soon as the AEM cam gear comes out (or maybe already out, a friend on AOL claims to already have one, but thats a different story all together), that problem will be fixed right up. Till then, just race through 2nd gear

Hmmm... I must be doing something wrong then because my 2nd gear is the slowest. All my other gears shoot up pretty quick.

It won't help or give you more power....only in very high rpms's it will help the fuel ignite properly. maybe a .5% increase in power in high RPM's.

Adjustable cam gears can help. Slightly advanced ignition timing as well (dangerous and we can;t do it without a new ECU). Save $$$$ Get the Gude package...

I actually find 2nd gear to be the best gear for acceleration ...

well I usually get really good pull in third .. When racing Iwill double clutch into third keeping the revs up to about 5500 and that usually pulls pretty hard but I still want a little more... In second I get alot of torque steer

Toretto: The main reason we can chirp our tires in 2nd is because we have very cheap factory tires that don't grip for sh*t.. Put some decent summer rubber (VR/ZR) on your car and see if you can chirp them again.
Which model do you have, DX,LX or EX?
I have an '01 EX coupe and mine pulls pretty good in third, almost as good as it does in 2nd. BTW, I 'm 6'2 and weight 210lbs. What also helps is having 1/2 tank of gas or less (1/4 preferrably) when you decide to race someone. The less weight the better.

About 3-4 weeks ago I raced against my friend and his '98 Accord EX 5-sp. His Accord is well broken in with 55k mi. We raced to about 100mph (4th gear). It was about 1am and on a weekday with noone on the road. I was about 1 car length ahead of him at 45-50mph, 1.5 lengths at 65-70 & about 2 car lengths at 90 or so. Then at 90mph he started gaining on me slightly and at 100 he had closed the gap back to 1-1.5 car lengths and gaining before we quit because our turn was coming up. It's 4th gear that's pathetic in our cars. I think 3d gear is ok although not as good as I would like it of course, but 4th gear totally sucks. That's when he started catching up to me, once I shifted into 4th (I think 3d gear only goes up to about 88mph).
I 've driven my friend's Accord EX 5-sp. and it's not really a slow car, especially on the highway. I drove it for 3.5hrs to Atlantic city, NJ and it had better passing power on the highway than my EX 5-sp. (in 4 & 5th gears) mainly due to the higher torque #s of the Accord's bigger motor.
