Button or No Button

I was wondering what would be the best way to operate a nitrous system. With a button activation or just the wide open throttle sensor. I was curious because it seems like it would be kind of difficult with a manual transmission to have it hooked up with the just the WOT sensor. But, on the other hand, if you had the push button it would be odd to use when not in a racing situation. Seems like they both have good and bad points. Just curious for opinions.

dont know too much about this but cant you hook it up so that it works both ways? kinda sounds similar to working a neon light... you could make it work with both button or swtich.

Why would you want to use it if you're not in a "racing situation"?
Most people just hook it up to where you spray at WOT and then you have an on/off switch that stays in the off position during daily driving or cruising. (when you don't want to spray)
But yeah, you can hook it up to where it will spray at WOT, and if you're not at WOT, you can hit the button and spray.

i'd do the button.. because I would NEVER want to spray unless I was racing...

Imagine you are cruising along on a highway and you want to pass a truck... when passing your NOS starts spraying and you're not ready for it and they extra boost makes you turn into the truck or something... switches are safe...

Just throwing out my 2 cents.

Uhm...there is an on/off switch whether your using a WOT sensor or not. So, obviously, if you have the switch in the off possition then the sensor wont send the signal and spray....if you have it on the sensor will send the signal and will spray....

Weak argument toad. If you have nitrous then you should be responsible enough to know whether your nitrous is on or not. If that is your concern have a huge led light in your field of vision that is one when you have nitrous open and ready, or don;t bother spending your money and being paranoid about whther you'll crash if you open up yer throttle.

Go with the wide open throttle, less hassle.

hook it up too the wot switch. if you have it to a button then when you go to clutch your gonna blow the clutch. also, a wot switch will prevent you from hitting the nitrous at too low of an rpm when there is not enough fuel available. safer and more effective.

yea, buttons are for the fast and the furious. when your doing the 1/4 mile, your way to busy driveing to worry about pushing a little button.

Whether or not I had a button, I would still have it hooked up to the wot switch. Just because it shouldn't spray if you aren't at wot. I was wondering because of the extra precaution of the button. I realize that this is probably a matter of preference, but I just wanted to hear some opinions of the pros and cons of both setups. Thanks for your input!

What about having some sort of relay for street driving where you could have the main powered on and have your lines open, but as a safety override, only the button will activate the system, but in order for the button to activate you must be running at WOT? just an idea, dont know the practicality of it.

That's exactly what I was thinking about OmegaBlue. I wouldn't have it armed all the time of course. But, the button would only be able to activate the system if the car was at wot. Sounds like a decent setup to me.
