Interior Paint (besides Foliatec)
Ok, i'm painting my interior soon (finally have the time)... I bought a can of Foliatec dark blue and I tried painting a small test piece and I don't really like the colour... so I'm looking for another type of paint that has a wider selection of colour. I want to paint part of the door panels and the main dash (not just the trim pieces), the part that's made of soft plastic. For example, see PlatnumBomb's Ride. You're probably thinking why don't you ask him... he used Foliatec, the colours he chose are easy to be satisfied with... I want a really nice navy blue that works well with my EBP exterior.
Basically, I'm looking for something that works on both hard and soft plastic... I already bought some fine (600 and 1000 grit) sand paper and grease remover... so I'm ready, I'm just looking for one paint that will work on both the hard and soft stuff.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hey man, I am wondering the same thing. I cant find any good paint for my interior. I did the spark plug cover, battery tie down and Fuse box cover this past weekend with some paint from Cdn. Tire, but for the interior I want something that I know will work well. I cant find and of the Plasti-Kote stuff anywhere around here and I looked everywhere. The best I can do is I went to APM and they can mix a spray bomb with the color I want but I am not sure if its the right quality I want. I just want to make sure the interior comes out good. Any one know of anything that we can use that can be purchased here in Canada?.
well honestly i wouldn't want to paint the interior .. wat are u gonna do when u get a scartch on the "plastic" u gonna sand it prime it and then repaint that whole thing over again? also later on there gonna peel off and u gonna have to repaint that thing all over again. but if u must paint then go get "PLASTI-KOTE " u can pick these up at pep-boys or any other car part stores. they make them to match ur fatory colors or any other colors u want.. much cheaper the folitec. also u wanna get some clear gloss (get these at the hardware store) so that it protects ur paint and gives it a nice shinny look. but most of all don't for get to sand and PRIME!!!
crassoverride ......... if u can't get PLASTI-KOTE just go get ur self any VINYLE paint those things work good even better the the plastic-kote. they stick on to the plastic better and won't bleed as much. but only thing is u won't have a large selection of colors.

Hey Chlorine,
As for interior paint, i tried plastic-kote and i was not to impressed with the outcome. So i decided to try something else. I have read some stuff about G2 paint and no seemed to have a problem with it. It did a great job and i am very pleased with it. It cost 15.95 but that is a drop in the bucket when someone like me is worried about scratching it. Hope this helps.. Here is the site i got it from Linky and a nice part about it is that the shipping is free right now
Hope this helps

problem with G2 is not too many colours to choose from just like foliatec...
maybe I will just stick with foliatec then... I'm wondering if the G2 and Foliatec paint... are the basically just vinyl paint.... and they call it interior styling paint just so they can mark up the price and sell it as that?

When I did mine, I just bought some interior car paint and a good primer and went at it. Make sure you let your trim pieces sit for ATLEAST 6 hours so they dry completely. I found out the hard way and noticed the paint was still very soft when I put my HVAC controls back into the dash. It wasnt pretty.

I thought that the Foliatec "paint" was a dye? I think that this product wouldn't peal or chip and stuff because it was a dye....am I wrong?

ya I think you're right, foliatec is like a dye... I haven't actually tried it on the soft stuff yet... I need to get a hold of some scrap piece for testing... I tried it on hard plastic, used primer... it doesn't look like it would chip or peel...

I was looking at getting the trim pieces that you just stick on but didnt want them to start peeling off after a few years, but then again I am not sure how well the paint will hold up either if I do that, I am just too confused.
