ECU chip
i know and i understand a regular typo but thats gonna come up on every thread she writes on cause its down below as her sig ... unless she just made it look that way. So at least she can fix it before she posts it again somewhere else.
Who cares how its spelled? Its not as if this forum was made to be the english dictionary of all english speaking persons, fvck it, I had something intelligent to say but I forgot it. Anyhow, if you're going from post to post checking spelling erros I pity you. CivicGrl, as far you actual question goes. I don't know anyone who's gotten an ECU Upgrade. I hear that JETCHIP makes one for our car(meaning they do custom work on the ECU) and its supposed to give somewhat decent gains- meaning that the ECU is modified to the aftermarkets components in your engine, making them as powerful as possible. It is said that on a stock engine it can get you like 8-9hp, but hasn't been dynoed yet. You should be the first to try, let us know how it goes. however, there are other local companies out there who can probably do the job better. You'll just have to research

i asked a shop about this.....
apparently most cars after 96 can not be chipped, they can only be reprogrammed.
A full reprogram costs about $300 at yoru local shop. (well, my local shop)

anyways, I was pissing off the shop employee at the time probably, tho he didnt seem like he was too annoyed.
He did not go into details about teh procedure at teh time. And he was right for doing so. I would not have known what he was talking about anyways.
But I would asume that they would get your car on a dyno and adjust the fuel curves to maximize power, rather than economy and fatigue life. but that is just hearsay, so feel free nto to quote me on that one. It makes the most sense tho.....
unless they just download preset "performance" programming for all cars and just reburn the EEPROM. that would make perfect sense, just suck a whole lot more compared to good old guess and check
