E3 spark plug change?

Hello, I tried to do what I thought was an easy DIY - change the sparkplugs in my 2006 Civic EX. I have 94,000 Kms. I thought I would try the E3 plugs, and see that E3.48 are for the 1.8 L Civic. I remove the old plugs, look decent enough. I install the new E3s, but when I pop the plug caps on, they go on rather easy, the old plugs had a very snug fit (they also had a lot of goop on them - what is that?).

Since the plug caps are bolted down, are these plugs ok if they are not real snug in the plug caps ? The engine started up ok, so I am just wondering.

thanks
DaveT

Re: E3 spark plug change?

fist get rid off those garbage plugs there all gimmick and not well made there designed for lawn mowers which honestly is not far from a civic engine . get DENSO or NGK. and that gunk is dielectric grease.

Are you sure you have them installed right? The tops of the plugs are just like any other plug. As for performance gains I never had a "perfromance plug" really do anything, I have tried like 3 types.

That goop can also be diaelectrical grease, to prevent seizing.
