A/C delete

Newbie here and I just bought a 90 Civic EX w/192,XXX on it. The A/C doesn't work, I live in the Northeast and I'm more of a window guy, so I was thinking of just taking it and associated accesories out. Didn't know if this would mess with my heat and/or in need of ECU change. See any problems with this?

If it matters it's a D16a6

Re: A/C delete

my reccommendation is that instead of removing it, fix it. think of that hot summer day when all u want is some a/c. Plus the window creates a drag when on the highway and will increase your gas consumption

Fixing the AC on a 20 year old car would probably cost more than the car itself is worth.

Re: A/C delete

The guy that I bought it from said the dealership wanted $1200 to fix it...I only paid $600. I was thinking a little less weight a little more HP!

Doesn't running the A/C in general use more gas?

That is possible, prob need new compressor, dryer, etc.

If it does not work just leave it in, might cause mroe problems then it is worth, plus the weight is not that much anyway.

Re: A/C delete

Good looks. I know that'll clean up the engine compartment some. I really don't think issues will arise but I'll let you know.

Re: A/C delete

So it doesn't look like any problems arose by by-passing A/C. However the new alt. belt cooked the old alt. so me and wifey got a little exercise Fri night. New alt today and she's running smooth. In need of intermediate exhaust pipe and front wheel bearing and it is sticker time!
