DIY- 1998 Civic Replace Ignition Distributor
Hi
I am new to this forum:
I have had oil leaking for a while out the distributor cap.
Do I need to replace the entire distributor because the oil has been leaking for several month and might have impacted the coil and other electrical parts of the distributor or can I just replace the cap and gasket?
Can anyone walk me thru step by step :
A. replacing only the cap and gasket and
B. the entire distributor?
How hard is it? Do I need special tools?

What do you mean "out of the distributor cap?" Are you sure you're not leaking oil out of the top cover which is flowing into the distributor cap? We can't help you if you don't know what the situation is.

thank you for responding. please see the attached pictures to me it seems that the leak is right at the cap. What do you think?
