OBDII Interface

Hi,

My car is a Civic 2000 DX and I want to buy a OBDII cable to connect it to my laptop. Anyone can help me to find what kind of interface use this car? is it CAM? Is it ISO-9141? How can i Know what interface I need to buy?

pretty much any 95+ car uses OBDII system with universal connector. im sure you could find something on ebay. the info here may help you out

if you want to build your own interface i would sugest ELM chips. at about $20 each they take out all the guess work of interfacing to OBD to simple serial comands. theres a bunch of freeware program that will make your laptop a scan tool with it too.

CAN didnt come into cars untill about 2004 so u dont have to worry bout that also 99% of imports use the ISO protocall. Domestics use VPW except ford that uses PWM.

EDIT: damn gearbox u beat me to him AGAIN and thats a CAN ONLY not universal. it wouldnt work on his car.

yeah i just posted it cause theres some useful info in the body and thats the only one on ebay. i didnt know if it would work. where would you find the iso version

Thank you guys. I don't want to build my own scan.. I just want to buy a cable and download the software. Any suggestions? I'm looking for cheap stuff.
