Starts but doesn't stay running?!?!?!?
I am looking to buy a 2000 civic with the d16y5 motor.... The owner says it runs but doesn't stay running and was told it might be the fuel pump..... A friend of my said it could be the computer.... Any suggestions??????

If I was you I don't buy it!! you can't really know what might it be, and maybe the owner has tried and tried and has not success and want to sell it at it is

yeah could be a number of things why it doesnt start... but if u want to buy it for cheap and fix it urself... if theres the engine light on scan it and it will narrow it done for u

Okay....muirsy... How cheap would be cheap would be cheap..... The car has 170,000 miles..... How would I know what it could be before I buy if o do buy it??????

could be thousands of $$ in repairs if you dont know what the problem is. fuel pump maybe, ecu maybe, main relay, etc could be a list of 10 things its hard to say.

get the car scaned it show tell u what is causing the problem then go from there check the wires and fuses and stuff like that related to that system and dont replace anything unless ur sure its that part that is causing it

2000 honda civic hx with a d16y5 5 speed tranny and it use to rev limit at 7000 rpms and now the rev limiter is kickin in at 4000 rpms........I think the seller of the car I want posted this on a different site...... Any help on what this could be if this is his car......
