Coilover Controversy
I just put the Tenzo R Mean 6's on my 2k1Civic EX, and was in the process of installing my coilovers with my local Honda guy and ran into a problem with the front struts. The coilovers didn't seem to fit over the strut. I bought the Weapon-R Circuit Pro Suspension coilover package, and I thought I might have gotten sent the wrong one. So I contacted Weapon-R and they said I had the right one and that purchasing new struts was not needed, but I don't have any install instructions on it. Weapon-R said they didn't have the ability to e-mail me installation instructions, but they could fax, however I have no fax. Can anyone help me out, I am stuck riding high, when I want it low. Thanks.

Well, I'm pretty sure the Weapon R will have the same instructions as the Ground Controls. In both an old Import Tuner and Import Racer magazine shows how to install the Ground Controls on the 7th gen civic. I remember there was a diy or scanned version of those articles on this site, but I can't seem to find it yet. Well, my guess about your main problem is that theres a gold nut or ring like thing on the top of the front struts. You have to pop that piece off so that you sleeves can actually fit over the struts. Try to find someone that has the Ground Controls and ask them if they can send you a copy of their instructions, or try to search for that instruction's article. Good luck with Weapon R, I hope the ride is okay b/c alot of ppl say one should get either skunk or ground control.

I saw the thread and wasn't sure if it would compare. Thanks for the help, that gold nut ring was the problem, the top cover plate would not fit over it. Thanks, and anymore info is appreciated.
Speednbyu,
I have groundcontrols and the instructions that came with it are not the best. I found some instructions on this site that were good when putting both sets of instructions together. Do you live in NC? I live in Winston-Salem, and I could meet up w/ you sopmewhere if you want a copy. What color mean 6's did you get? I have em' also.

Yeah I live in Fayetteville, I am in the Air Force. My 7th Gen is silver and I got the silver Mean 6's. Was going to get the Gunmetal, but saw it on another ride and didn't like it. It looks pretty clean. I ahve had it for a year and haven't really done anything yet, been planning on it and just started. Yeah I found the ground control instructions also, the problem was that gold top ring, so now I am all set, should be done this week.
