Unpainted moldings...what to do?

Coming from that last thread about painting bumpers, (which a DIY for something that large is not a good idea imo) I got to thinking about something thats been on my mind lately... So all you 6th gen owners, the ones that do not have an EX. What have you done with your side moldings and license plate inserts? Honda was nice enough to not paint those like they did for the ex models leaving us the ugly flat black moldings. I'll admit that I used to like the look a long time ago but now I feel it makes the car look really dated and cheap. Since these pieces are relatively small, has anyone done a DIY paint job for these? That or around how much roughly would a shop charge to paint these? Pics would be nice from those DIYers.

i think he wants it color matched to the car paint. but most auto store shound have satin silver in a can which i think is what the older civics had. and a can of clear coat. it wont look professional, but you save some $$. body shop will prolly charge $100-200

Correct.

My car is blue actually but I know local stores has my color available. I know it won't look like it came out of the factory, but I was wondering how many other people have tried this and what it looked like. If its too ugly then I'll just leave it black. If not, I may consider doing this.

usually turns out good enough where nobody will notice for a small trim piece. just be sure you sand it smooth, primer, then paint and clear coat.

Yeah thats what I was thinking too. Since they are small pieces it should look descent with a DIY job.
