Disable Auto Door Lock/DRL Disable
Disable Auto Door Lock/DRL Disable
I am new to the forum. My wife has a 2009 civic. The automatic door locks is driving me crazy when you put it in gear and it stays locked...Can anyone direct me to a link on how to remove this feature?
Also, I know I can pull the #37 fuse to disable the drl's but that removes them permananently. Any way to link them with the parking lights?

Re: Disable Auto Door Lock/DRL Disable
i think they have a post about this on 8thcivic.com there is just a wire you have to find and cut. drl is on its own circuit and must not be changed around. i dont even think its possible because then you will have problems with your hi beams not working. the drl is the hi beam wired in series so each bulb is at 1/2 power. its a complicated system. so just remove the fuse and put it back if you decide you want drl again.

Re: Disable Auto Door Lock/DRL Disable
why do u want to disable the DRLs????
did u know driving with DRLs on gives u a 40% less of an chance to get into an accident?
if u live in canada i believe it is mandatory or something along those lines.

I don't understand what the difference is... when you're in the car, you can't even tell they're on...
If they're going to reduce your chances of getting into an accident due to another driver not seeing you, then I say leave them. Disabling safety features is not a good idea.
