DIY- Thinking of installing.....

Ok. I bought a alarm/remote start/power locks(keyless entry) for my new 2009 Civic DX VP. This system cost me $75, and I read the directions and took apart some of the dash near the stearing wheel. The first step states to locate the cluster of wires connected to the battery at the ignition end used for the starting of the vehicle, well I found them and then I became really intimidated by starting to pull wires out, when they wouldnt come out of the plastic pin looking connector. Is it worth me saving $400 on installing it myself. Does anyone know where I can get step by step directions. I really want the system installed, but at what price?= expiring my warranty due screwing up the wiring system? or four hundred + $ to install. Any ideas? Thanks.

Re: DIY- Thinking of installing.....

Why do you have to pull the pins out of the connectors? You can't use pinch connectors to install it??? A pinch connector crimps both wires together without the need of cutting or pulling the pin connector.

Well I guess I could, I don't exactly know much about how that works, I mean do the wires actualy connect to eachother that way, I mean would it be reversible seeing as there is no cutting or crimping as you say. Here is my email if u don't mind helping me out with further questions if you are wire/electrical savvy. Brandon.wingerter@gmail.com

Re: DIY- Thinking of installing.....

Well, I'm not exactly sure what your trying to do. Are you trying to change the connector or just feed another wire off of it? I've never actually done an install like this but I've done other installs. What your trying to do is a little bit more advanced but it shouldn't be too hard. There is a great DIY here (I'll get the link if you can't find it) that shows you how to remove the pins out of the connectors using a paper clip. Although it is not the best way to do it it's the cheapest... Do you have any kind of installation instructions you can post on here, or link us to one that is online. Tell us what brand and model the alarm is so we have something to work with! or even take pictures of what your trying to do! It's just hard to help with little information.

The wires dont need to come out of the connector you just need to tap into them. Also did you figure out how to bypass the imobilizer?

Re: DIY- Thinking of installing.....

who the hell is charging $400 for install? i did my buddies 08 si for $80 and still felt like i was over charging. DO not attempt to do this install without experience. 8th gen's are not a walk in the park. This is not a DIY suitable for a first timer..
