RSX seat airbag question
RSX seat airbag question
Two questions.
If i swap to rsx seats with airbags (and i have side airbags) can you successfully hook up the airbags and make them work?
second question. IF i swap for rsx seats that have already blown their airbags, can i use my civic airbags and remove them and put them into the rsx side airbag housing?

Re: RSX seat airbag question
if your civic is equipped with side airbags i dont see why they wouldnt work. and if they fit i would assume they would work...but dont quote me on that caus there are dual and single stage airbags which cant be mixed
Re: RSX seat airbag question
Update: Looks like it will indeed fit just fine. Below is the different part numbers. clearly the airbags part numbers are different. But I'd assume that just contributes to different colors. Notice the airbag holder uses the same part number. So in theory, you could interchange acura and civic airbags if they share the same holder.
difference in part numbers: honda 06788-S5A-A80ZA acura 06788-S6M-A80ZA
rsx vs civic use the same airbag holder: part number 81528-S5A-J01

Re: RSX seat airbag question
mine fit with no side airbag light or SRS light.
I was getting a side airbag light every so often with my stock seats but now its gone.
we'll see if it'll actually deploy, but who cares - as long as there arent lights im happy

Re: RSX seat airbag question
yeah it will work the air bag connectors are the same the only thing were you run into the single and dual stage airbags is with the steering wheels. side airbags only come with one stage on the honda's so far
Single stage goes off if you hit anything.
Dual stage does a small charge on low speed collisions and sets off both charges on high speed impact.

Re: RSX seat airbag question
wasnt that easy for me. i had to trim the carpet, took 2 small asian guys to sit on the seat in order to fit a 4th hole only after making the hole of the bracket larger. plus i added a thicker washer to the 4th hole to stop it from rocking. maybe ull have better luck

Re: RSX seat airbag question
Oh. Well I can't say I call that difficult. If I had to fabricate brackets or drill new holes and weld nuts to the back, I guess it would be difficult, but I'm a little different in that respect.

DRIVER SEAT

approximate dimensions- length, width, height, 1.75, 1.75, .75
the 4th hole does not perfectly line up, it lines up left and right but not up a and down. you need to lengthen the hole towards the back of the seat.

the pink is a rough estimation of what the previous bracket hole was like. the green represents what you need the hole to be. I just used reciprocating saw whatever its called. to extend the hole. you only need to extend it vertically as the image shows.
after that it works fine, i covered my wood in electrical tape and painted whatever came through with black honda paint. also you will need a longer bolt for the 4th one. I couldn't find a longer bolt in my garage that was the same threading, so i rethread the hole for the bolt i did have, i than painted the bolt black. so i suggest going to your nearest hardware store and finding a longer bolt that is the same threading.
PASSENGER SEAT
there really isnt much problems with the fitment of the passenger seat. however they are slightly different, as long as you do all bolts at the same time it will be fine. for example put all the bolts in and slightly tighten them all, if you tighten the fronts all the way the backs wont fit right, same vice versa. if you do them all together they will be fine. you dont need to lengthen any holes or use wood or anything its a semi-direct fit.
