I have a 1993 Honda Civic Dx.. it keeps overheating.. when it overheats the heat in the car shuts off, then out of no where the heat will come back on and the car will instantly cool off to the temperature it should be... what could this be?

First thing first is make sure you have coolant, and that there are no leaks. When you fill up your radiator with coolant try to have the front end of your car up. (park on a hill with the nose end facing up) and fill to the top avoid any bubbles. Does it take a long time for your cars temperature to warm up in the mornings? Oh yea feel your upper radiator hose after your car reaches operating temperature and see if the upper hose is pressurized, if not then chances are you have a bad cap
