Rep Power: 0 Blue wire on aftermarket stereos
Just a heads up to anyone looking to install an aftermarket stereo. I put one in the other day and reception on AM was horrible. I determined that this was due to the fact that I didn't connect the blue wire from the stereo to the blue wire on the harness adapter. I left this one off because the literature said it was for a power antenna or amplifier (to turn it on). I have neither so I thought the wire wasn't needed. As it turns out, the antenna (which is attached to the rear window) is an "active" antenna: it has an amplifier of it's own which needs power. This is where the blue wire on the harness comes in. After making the connection, my AM reception is back to normal.
