Engine Rebuild Progress
Engine Rebuild Progress
got the motor completly out in about 2 days. Took everything apart. Gonna clean everything up this weekend. ordered new gaskets pistons and clutch so hopefully if they get here by this weekend i can get the bottom end back togehter. here are a few pics.

now just gotta get it put back together, upgrade a few little things here and there, and if all goes well its turbo time

Man! Thats a lot of work. Why dont you build the motor while your at it? High compression pistons, oversized valves- a little head work. Get some more power out of that thing.

Re: Engine Rebuild Progress
Gotta love the older D's....so easy to work on! I just got done rebuilding one in the car
heh....Pop the head, oil pan, throw in a set of std bearings, t-belt, & some gaskets........car has 5k on it now with no signs of problems
I also took motors out to rebuild until my master tech at the honda dealership did a couple this way with me. He's done alot that way with no issues (not customers cars btw.) No plastigage, just standard bearings all the way around. He can do it in 1 day....crazy but it works...I'll see if I can get the link to the pictures.

Re: Engine Rebuild Progress
yeah we got the whole motor apart in a day. we're just waiting on parts to finish it. i have one goal in mind. this car has been sittin in my garage for 2 years and hasn't moved an inch. and a friend of mine who drives a wrx finds it nessicary to keep reminding me of how big of a p.o.s it is. so once i get the rebuild done, and throw a turbo in it i get to spank him and watch the look on his face
