Short Shift Help !!

I just installed a short shifter about a week ago on my 96 civic ex. It is just a JDM short shifter, 12 inches long. It came with a new bolt and bearing cushions or what ever those gold things are.

My friend and I installed it in his garage, bolted everything back on the same way it came off, and installed the shifter to what i believe is correctly installed. We tested it right away, the throwback was greatly reduced but shifting from gear to gear was a workout. The stick didn't want to move very fast and it required some strength to shift.

Just a few days after installing, it started to shift easier but seemed to have more throwback now. Also went i start driving in the morning there is not shift "click", but after I've been driving for a little while everything i shift, it "clicks." By mid day the click is just annoying and loud, and I'm not sure if i need to add more grease to the ball. Another thing is when I am in gear, I can slip the stick out of gear without having to put the clutch in, I don't think that is good.

Please help!!! Should I take it to my maintenance mechanic and see what he thinks?
