2008 EX-L Civic Sedan Bass Speaker question
Community Honda installed the base speaker system option around $450 installed.
There is an amplifier in the trunk. I do not see the subwoofers anywhere?
I don't think they even installed the sub woofers. I only see the original woofers in the back. I know they did not switch them over to the sub's.
I don't really hear any subs? If they installed them where exactly are they?
I don't hear any behind the back seat itself. I don't hear anything below the passenger seat where I read a few posts from here.

Re: 2008 EX-L Civic Sedan Bass Speaker question
I don't see anything like that. I have a feeling the stock speakers are also the Subs when the amplifier is added and if that is the case Honda will owe me some money!!
I asked service for the old speakers and they told me they did not remove the old speakers from the rear deck. Maybe I will ask the tech that worked on my Vehicle.

Re: 2008 EX-L Civic Sedan Bass Speaker question
according to www.handaaccessories.com, the two speakers replace the rear deck ones...
i don't know if you can see a difference in magnet size on the back of the speakers, or tell if they were replaced...have you messed with the buttons on the dash? try going back to the dealership, asking them about it...
http://handaaccessories.com/civic/06-civic-bass.pdf
and for the future, (not trying to sound mean) but try installing accessories yourself. you'll save a lot of $$$$$. We are all here to help out if you need help with installs.

Re: 2008 EX-L Civic Sedan Bass Speaker question
hahaha...yeah, that could be why you don't hear that much increase in bass....
well...
check on your copy of the work order and check with those part numbers...make sure they give you everything that you paid for!!! they obviously didn't finish the job you paid them to do...
make sure you get your speakers, and maybe get your money back for the install part, and finish it yourself.
that's why i always double check my dealership's work (when they do work on my car)
too many mishaps from them for me to trust them. i check the work right in the driveway.

Re: 2008 EX-L Civic Sedan Bass Speaker question
its basically a very small and crappy "amp" if you can call it that, for some equally crappy stock replacement woofers. i bet they prolly hooked it to your speakers already in the car. either way, i doubt you would hear much difference. they prolly saw the speakers that came in the kit, and said hmm they look the same as whats in the car already, and didnt bother replacing it. shady but thats dealer for you.
Re: 2008 EX-L Civic Sedan Bass Speaker question
Can you tell me what the bass speaker should look like compared to the stock? Is the magnet a lot bigger?
I made them get me a brand new set of stock speakers since they threw out my old ones.
If I find out they did not put the new ones in I promise you the biggest lawsuit you will ever hear in history.
Mark this day!!!
I will not tolerate any more cr.....p from Honda.

Re: 2008 EX-L Civic Sedan Bass Speaker question
haha here is a rough pic, it looks like a regular speaker to me.
Bass System Kit
Genuine Factory Honda Civic bass system kit. Adds smooth, deep bass to the factory autio system. Includes 2 speakers and manually adjustable amplifier unit.
Replaces the stock rear speakers. Radio ballance control doesn't affect the bass speakers, the front rear fader does.
Not for Coupe EX or Si models or 4-door GX model.
Includes attachment kit and all parts needed for installation and operation.

Re: 2008 EX-L Civic Sedan Bass Speaker question
Is there a way to tell the stock ones from the Bass kit ones? Just by looking at the magnet? Anything else? Is the magnet larger on the bass kits speakers?

Re: 2008 EX-L Civic Sedan Bass Speaker question
did they at least install the tiny amp for you? or just pretend like they installed it hoping you wouldnt notice anything different.
Re: 2008 EX-L Civic Sedan Bass Speaker question
The Amp is there. I am going to go to another Honda Dealer. Look at an EX-L rear deck speakers to see if I can visually see if there is a difference. If there is then I know they installed them.
They are still ordering me the stock ones they threw away at no charge!!

Re: 2008 EX-L Civic Sedan Bass Speaker question
but why would you add this system anyways? at 450$ you could have gotten a 10' or (12') running with like 500 watts, instead of this little system, im guessing maybe 100 watt max

Re: 2008 EX-L Civic Sedan Bass Speaker question
its like $275 or something for the parts and thats from handa. the dealer prolly charged more. for $500, you could have all new speakers, and an amp for them, with money left over for a nice deck. wouldve sounded 10x better than the bass system lol
Re: 2008 EX-L Civic Sedan Bass Speaker question
I completely agree. Being an Ex Fosgate buff. I actually still have working Fosgates. The earlier generation ones to me sound better then the later ones put out.
They were a bit unstable. I guess one reason why I did it, is I did not want a system put in that would change any wiring or cutting of new holes etc.
I just decided to go OEM.
I agree I think I wasted my money. They would kill me if I said I was dissatisfied with the system.
Basically I am giving community some hell right now for making my life so miserable with the SI 2007 4 door crappola I had. Two major TSB's one being third gear that community still claims they cannot replicate and Grand has made note I needed a new trans. I never got a new one put in because that would have not fixed the 3rd geear issue.
Later I found out there was another TSB on the rear Cambers. I saw inner tire wear on my rear tires. community gave me 16,500 trade in with 29K on the car. I suppose with that many miles did I get a decent trade in?
I would say no since I wanted to return that car the first week I knew there was a trans problem and they would not take the care back.
Anyhow I want to make their life a little miserable as they made mine while driving that nightmare.
I have had 3 prior EX with 5 speeds and never had any problems with them.
Stay away from SI's they ride like SH...t, and are bad on gas. I do miss the 50 extra horsepower I had in the SI.

Re: 2008 EX-L Civic Sedan Bass Speaker question
yeah. i don't know abuot TSBs on the 02-05s, but they seemed to be a lot more fun to me...smaller car with more hp...for a car that size though, i'd go more with a WRX or STi...
Re: 2008 EX-L Civic Sedan Bass Speaker question
They did put in the Sub Woofers. The magnet is clearly Larger and yellow. The stock speakers have a chrome magnet and is way smaller almost reseeded more.
The did replace the stock speakers they threw out. They ordered them from parts and no charge to me.
So this thread is basically ends here.
Thanks for the replies

no problem. we're all here to help each other!
are you hearing better bass no that it's been a while? play around with the bass settings on the radio, and check the amp itself...maybe it needs to be tuned a little (like most aftermarket amps..)
(just some closing thoughts)
