I had thought about it and i talked to a lot of guys at shops here and they all say it can be easily done but you will lose a small amount of Hp and torque....unless you just have the dummy muffler but then you can tell that only one is working then it looks and sounds ghetto

noonly when you get up close to it if your going for show then i would go for the 2 functional ones but if your going for race tthen get the dummy muffler going....i just heard one done before and you coudl tell the difference thats all im saying
going duel exhaust wont make u lose back pressure.....pressure is built up at the cat as the exhaust is leaving the head going down the header so anything thing after the cat is free flowing and ust routed to the rear of the car
anyone?....
anyone?.....
Bueller?..........
THE PIPING IS..... larger diameter piping cause low end torque to go down, if you keep the regular piping and run a y pipe to dual exhaust you're not losing power, you may think you are because someone told you that, but you're not.....

Bottom line, running dual exhaust on a car that wasn't made for that is going to yield less HP. Yes it will be louder, but you will be loud and slow. (as if our cars aren't slow enough as it is). Whomever tells you that dual exhaust, larger piping, and/or elliminating a catalytic wont cause you to lose HP is lying.

no, thats not correct. Larger piping will cause you to lose low end torque, not horsepower.
replacing the restrictive Cat with a stock diameter pipe will not cause a loss in power.
read this thread here.... no here... i mean here...
Dual exhaust on the new civic would look sweet. And all of you quit your whining about losing power because even the Accord V6 uses a y pipe for its duals. Dual exhaust isn't ricey. If you can afford it, go for it
getting a dummy kit would be silly! what about when it's cold or something... smoke will only be coming out of one if them.... If i saw that on the road I'd think HA HA dummy kid with a dummy kit.

Why would you loose horse and torque? I used to be a Big Block boy( then I reached the age of reason) and that just doesnt make sense to me since your lowering your back pressure you should increase both torque and HP all the way thorugh the power band ?????
dummy makes you look stupid in teh winter? no! dummy makes you look stupid ALL YEAR ROUND!!!
ever walk by an integra and look at its dual exaust, where the LEFT pipe is SPOTLESS< and the RIGH Tpipe is dirty as hell? pleas, pleas, please, please, PLEASE, if you are going to do a dual exaust, PLEASE make it functional! regardless of whether you lose power or not!

what if you go for smaller diamiter pipes and do the Y-split into a double exhaust with straight through mufflers?? i dont know anything about exhaust systems, im just trying to understand. but in that situation, if both the mufflers are functional, will you lose any HP or tourque? and if so, how exactly will that affect the performance? i mean will you be slower off the line? or what?
please help me understand this.
thanx.
