00 Civic SI problem PLease help!

Ok I have a 00 Civic SI and last week I was on my way home and the service engine lights came on and it started acting funny like gettin kinda jumpy or something... But anyways I took it to auto zone the next day and had it scanned and it said multiple cylinder misfire.. Well I changed the plugs, wires, coil, and that didnt help its still doin the same thing.. So I took it to a local mechanic shop and he said it had no compression that he would have to pull the head off and go from there. So wat do you guys think?? I really didnt wanna spend all my christmas money on head work or a new motor, its just my daily driver....Please help

Do you go to a mechanic that you trust??? If mine says the head needs to get yanked in order for the car to start working again then I'd tell him to do it.

If this car wasn't a dd then I'd say park it until the money started flowing in after Christmas but it looks like you might not have an option.

Welcome to the site and sorry it couldn't be under better circumstances. For future reference, don't start two threads about the same problem next time.

could be blown headgasket. but no compression is a bit vague. if that was true, the engine would not even run. maybe he means low compression on some cylinders. is it burning or losing coolant?

okay, seems to be a head gasket then, which is kinda alot of work. has the car overheated at all? i would have them test the head when it comes off, and also make sure it is not warped. cause if they change the gasket without finding the problem, it will just blow again.

check and see if you're losing coolant, but my guess is a bad head gasket. do you drive the car hard?

could be a small leak, happened to me before and i would get misfire but once the engine warmed up and sealed it, the engine ran fine. it was a small leak, not enough to mix oil and coolant. have you had a slow coolant system pressure check?
