Talking Ls Vtec build!!!

ok i blew up the old b16a2 but bought a b18b block. i now have....

Eagle block gaurd

Comp cams,valve springs,retainers

Re: Ls Vtec build!!!

Golden Eagle has a good rep for the vtec conversion kit.

How much are you planning on boosting and what are you using for engine management?

Re: Ls Vtec build!!!

blue tops are usually 450cc. those might not be big enough dependant on how much boost you want to run. you should be able to push 450-500whp dependant on your set up as well(turbo and all- i/c, what manifolds your running inc. t/b, engine management, wet or dry nitro system and where its being injected, ect)

Re: Ls Vtec build!!!

well first i have a hondata s300 system to tune with (which i have heard great things of so far!!) my system is a dry shot kit, i am taking my next 2 checks to buy a victor x intake manifold from edelbrock, and i should be boosting somewhere from 22-26 pounds it just all depends on how it is tuned.

thanks for the responses

Re: Ls Vtec build!!!

are you going to sleeve it? It would be a good idea if you sleeve just for piece of mind and so you can upgrade for more power down the road.

If you sleeve it, i suggest you use the 84mm pistons and go with the larger displacement.

Re: Ls Vtec build!!!

sounds like the motor is alreay built to me, where are you spraying the nitrous? in the manifold, before the turbo at the intercooler?? this is going to help determine the amount of fuel needed as well as boost. dry shots rely on your present fuel system to account for the nitrous. i would suggest using this type of nitrous system on the intercooler inlet. this way the major benefit for the nitrous is colder intake temps.

Re: Ls Vtec build!!!

your probably going to need between 650-750cc injectors. With a good tune w/o the spray you should be able to put down 450-500whp. I would seriously consider using the spray on the i/c rather than the intake mani. a dry shot leaves lean spots in your rpm band. this is due to the fact that the system has to trigger the computer to inject more fuel and there is always a delay, this delay gives nitrous with out fuel for a very short period of time.
this is not something you want with a boosted application. that .5 sec could cause detonation and ruin the work you just did.

i have heard bad things about venom injectors, like mainly they dont flow what they are spec'd to. I would just run some accell's or some dsm injectors. my neighbor might have a set of 650's laying around. ill check with him to see if he wants to part with them.
that UEGO is a good wideband. that will be ideal for your set up. also you may want to consider like a full race manifold. it will be a little more expensive but will produce more power. either that or a PWR manifold. I like the carbon ones aem is also good for the rail and regulator if not look into aeromotive. dont go cheap on this because inconsistant fuel pressures will be the end of your motor.

Re: Ls Vtec build!!!

neighbor wasnt home last night so i didnt have a chance to speak with him about the injectors.
Do you read Dspport magazine?? I have a series of issues that does a build up on a b16 sleeved and boosted although with 84.5mm bore. This gives a little better R/S ratio and allows you to rev a little bit higher. Like 10k LOl. but they made about 675whp on a similar set up. I think you would love to read about it. I hate to part with them but let me see what I can do.
