Engine shakes at 3500 rpm range
Engine shakes at 3500 rpm range
Okay, I have searched on the internet and couldn't find much. Hoping someone out there has a suggestion before I take it to a garage.
I have a 2001 Civic with a manual transmission. The check engine light is on. No matter what gear I am in, if the RPM hits about 3500, the engine begins to shake and the rpms begin to drop. The shaking will stop if I upshift or drop the rpms back below 3500. The car runs fine at the lower rpms.
Not a big problem yet but I can't do much over 80 on the interstate.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Brian
If you think this belongs in another forum my apologies. Please just let me know where to post it.

um, how about you get the code figured out. it will probably tell you whats wrong. its free at most auto parts stores. otherwise nobody is gonna sit here and guess the problem.

Almost sounds like your car is in Limp Mode. But like Gearbox has stated, no one knows unless you take it and get the code, it's free.

a few things ive experienced in my life on engine shake @ X RPM
Balance shaft.
Timing (one car the oil pump had to be timed aswell) this caused shake.
just a few guesses....

i had a similar problem and i BLEW MY ENGINE... no not turbo'd it i mean ruined it... i was having the same problem, my rpms were all f'ed up with the engine shaking and i didnt know what to do... i was on the highway cruise controlling 70 and all of a sudden it started slowing down, smoking, shaking and then turned off! looooooooooong *** story that im not getting into but you need to take it to a shop asap and tell them it might be the load detection module, thats what was wrong with mine, i had to get a new engine and everything.
