Opinions on b18b engine and build
hi guys
im new to the forum and you have probably answered these questions already but i need some help.
i am in the middle of planning my first build. i just bought a 2007 civic si and i caught the honda bug haha. please no haters i just need constructive criticism...
i was planning to drop a b18b engine in a 92-95 hatchback. the transmission code is s80, and i would like to keep this transmission due to the gear ratio (plan to turbo), and fact that its cheap, and gas milage. i have noticed tha the gsr also has this transmission, but the gear ratios are different. i am looking to get a l.s.d. for this transmission, preferably kaaz. is this possible? is there such thing as a kaaz lsd for the s80 on a b18b non-vtec? the website is saying there is one for the gsr s80. would they be compatible due to the same name transmission? is there a difference in the two trans?
thank you so much...i feel like such a newb sometimes! ugh...

Re: Opinions on b18b engine and build
there is a big difference in both transmissions. yes, the LS tranny is going to be much cheaper, and although the GSR tranny has shorter gearing, it's still not so short like an si tranny (b16). you can still cruise at a comfortable RPM on the highway. you might want to contact kaaz about the LSD issue.
also, the b18b is a good platform for boost. you can get WAY decent numbers with a good tune and even low boost.
