New rotors or resurface? And brakes.

I did a search on this, and boilermaker keeps saying that instead of paying 15-20 dollars per rotor for resurface, to go with new rotors, which he claims you can get for like 13 dollars a piece at Autozone. But I question the quality of 13 dollar rotors. What should I do?

Also, I'm looking into the HAWK HPS pads, but Dezod (AEM [Nissin]) also makes their own high performance pads, for the same price. Which sould I go for?

He speaks the troof. Ive even used AZ rotors at the track and they held up fine. Ive only used Hawk HPS only because they have never given my any reason to swtich to another brand.

As cheap as rotors are, you're better off just buying new ones every time you do your brakes. Why jack around with one of the most important safety features on your car? If you question the quality of $13 rotors, then step up to the $30 ones with the lifetime warranty. Its still better than resurfacing your old rotors.

I can vouch for EBC green stuff; great pads just produce some dust, but no biggy if you wash your car often.

According to this guy:

"I have Duralast on my car because i wanted 1 year warranty. I worked at autozone and could not tell the difference between Duralast and ValuCraft rotors. I also have Duralast gold pads on my car. The are quite and very little brake dust."

Re: New rotors or resurface? And brakes.

I ended up buying the AEM brakes/Brembo flat. Total was 117.27 shipped from import replacement parts. I couldn't afford afford the Hawk's, but hey, these seem to be really nice pads:

Re: New rotors or resurface? And brakes.

Did you do that on a lathe, or is there a special resurfacing machine? If you did it in the lathe, how were you able to machine the back side, since there is no way to clamp it in the 3-jaw.

the brake lathe is the only machine that can resurface.

If the rotors are within minimum thickness I would resurface than buying cheapy *** rotors cuz you do get what you pay for and ive seen some that come already warped lol.......
