2001 LX Stereo Install
Hey… I’m new to the forum. I am about to install a new aftermarket stereo in place of the original stock tape deck on my 2001 LX. I bought a cable that directly connects the ipod into the back of the new head unit with the new head unit. I wanted to run the ipod cable into my glove compartment because I don’t want my ipod in view when I get in and out of the car. In particular, I wanted to ask someone how I could place the cable in place in the compartment without duct/electrical tape or trying to drill holes in the plastic as it should fit in the space without drilling? Also, I wanted to ask if anyone if they did a similar install on a 2001 and if so is there is anything out of the norm that I should expect or suggestions to make this project easier?
Re: 2001 LX Stereo Install
wow, I am having a sever case of been there done that. So the solutions have been pretty good, a really easy thing to do is pop out the two little tabs on the glove box, and that will allow you to see a small portion of the stereo. Run the wire from the back of the stereo over the top of the glove box, and down into it. I agree in thinking that you need a way to keep the cord from falling out, for that one you are on your own, tape, zip-ties, all that is based on how clean you want the look to be, even if it is in your glove compartment.
