Cali Smog folks...

This Civic I bought recently wasnt smogged, I smogged it and it failed. The guy at the shop was going to do a diagnostic to see whats up. For those who are familiar:

NO (PPM)
California max...720 Measured....2374

HC (PPM)
Max ..93 Measured...118

CO %
Max.... 0.57 Measured.... 0.69

I was thinking it just needs a cat converter and fan relay (fan not clicking on)
The NO/PPM is pretty damn high though isnt it... Its a "gross polluter"
Just wondering what some thoughts may be...
Thanks... I cant register it, sort of sucks.

those measurements make me think the cat has been really damaged or hollowed out/missing pick up a random tech and you'll be stylin.

Re: Cali Smog folks...

a good way to see if your cat is working or not, (aside the engine light) is take the car for a drive. get the cat warmed up to normal. then using a infared tempeture meter with the engine still running mesure the input pipe to the cat and the output. output should be HIGHER than input. if there EQUAL then the cats no good and or not doing it's job.
